The Krakow Barbican is a medieval fortified outpost. It used to be connected to the city walls, but now is standing by itself. It is just past St. Florian’s Gate, and is surrounded by Planty Park.
It was built in 1498 and is the best preserved fortified outpost of its type in Europe. It used to act a gate into and out of the city of Krakow. Now it is a tourist attraction.
You can find the Barbican in the Old Town area. From the main square go to Floriańska Street, walk through Florian’s Gate and you will see the Barbican.
